Lord de Mauley announced a bee action plan to tackle decline in UK bees and other pollinators at the London "Bee Summit" on the 28th June. Organisers, Friends of the Earth quickly announce in an email:
"We've done it! Today Bees Minister Lord de Mauley announced a Bee Action Plan (he called it a National Pollinator Strategy). On behalf of everyone at Friends of the Earth - and every bee in the country - thank you. You've done something incredible."
I doubt that anything has changed. This is not a problem that will be resolved by subsidised flower margins around fields sodden with "smarter" pesticides, and yet more research looking for a scientific silver bullet to varroa. My thoughts are summed up by this quote:
"We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them." - Albert Einstein
