What a joy this book is; Keeping Bees with a Smile: A Vision and Practice of Natural Apiculture

Normally I would not recommend a book with such a strong honey production focus, but the author Fedor Lazutin puts the bee first and foremost and it is so readable.

The key parts I like:

• The long history & practices of Russian beekeeping
• The importance of hive insulation
• Solutions to the problems of Horizontal Top Bars hives commonly used in the UK
• The value of local races of bees

But best is the front cover; until our children grow up in a culture of  love and connection with nature there will be no solution to the bee crisis.
